Assessment questions

There are so many factors that affect our bowel habit, such as medications, stress, alcohol, coffee, physical activity and, of course, food. For example, not having enough fibre in the diet can cause constipation and having too much fibre can be a cause of stools that are too loose.

Change in bowel habit can be temporary, such as in food poisoning, which we all know can make stools horribly liquid! Another example of a temporary change in bowel habit, is during specific points in the menstrual cycle, when stools might become harder or looser than usual.

If this is true for you, let us know the types of stools you pass  when your bowel habit is not affected by the menstrual cycle.

Okay, take a careful look (yes, we know!) at the stool types below and click on the button that most closely describes your usual bowel habit.
